GETTING TO CHANIA DIRECTLY
By air using charter or scheduled flights directly to Chania International Airport Ioannis Daskalogiannis (CHQ). There are direct charter and scheduled flights connecting Chania with many European cities carried out by RYANAIR, Easyjet and others. Please contact your travel agent for details about charter flight schedules. There may be no direct flights from your country to Chania. You might have to travel through Athens International Airport.
GETTING TO CHANIA VIA ATHENS
By air, by bus, or by train to Athens, and then by boat (ANEK Lines) to Chania from Piraeus (the Port of Athens) or catch another flight from Athens to Chania (Aegean Airlines or Ryanair)
ARRIVING at MAICh FROM ATHENS (by plane)
The best way to reach MAICh from the airport is by taxi. It will cost approximately 25 Euros. Alternatively you can use the local bus to Chania center & after a taxi or another bus to MAICh, for more information check the Chania city bus service.

ARRIVING IN CHANIA FROM ATHENS (by boat)
There is currently one company operating from Piraeus port, Athens to Souda port, Chania

The ship departs around 21:30 and arrives at the Souda port at about 6:00 accordingly (check with the company for exact times).
From the port of Chania you can reach MAICh by taxi, it will cost approximately 5 Euro, or by bus No 13.
GETTING FROM ATHENS AIRPORT TO PIRAEUS PORT
The Airport is situated outside Athens (33 km). Unless you travel to Chania by plane again, you will have to use public transportation to get to Piraeus, the port of Athens, in order to take a boat to Crete. To get to Piraeus-the Port of Athens, you can go by bus, train, suburban rail & metro and taxi.
GETTING TO PIRAEUS BY BUS
The new Athens International Airport is accessible via Attiki Odos, a six-lane motorway constituting the Athens City Ring Road. Public transportation is provided by express airport bus connections with the Athens city center and the Port of Piraeus on a 24 hour basis, ensuring efficient transport of air travelers and facilitating linkage to key tourist attractions. We recommend using these express airport buses, since it is the cheapest and most convenient way of getting directly to the harbor.

Χ96 Piraeus - Athens Airport Express (24 hour operation)
Ticket price: €6 valid for one trip to or from the airport. All Express Buses disembark their passengers at the Departures Level and they depart from the designated area located at the inner curb side of the Arrivals Level, between Doors 4-5. You should validate your ticket ONLY ONCE, if you start your travel using one of the airport express lines, or TWICE, in case you use one or more public transport lines prior to the use of an airport express line. GETTING TO PIRAEUS BY TRAIN
The Athens Metro connects Piraeus port with the airport.
Line 3 (Blue line), From the airport to Monastiraki station
Change to Line 1 (Green Line) towards Piraeus port (final station)
(Metro tickets are additionally valid for all means of transportation, besides trips to and from the airport for 90 minutes after validation)
Fares: Single fare €10 Reduced fare €5 (you are entitled to a reduced fare if you are a University student under the age of 25. You have to show your university student ID card to ticket inspectors on demand.)

GETTING TO PIRAEUS BY TAXI
The airport is accessible by taxi on a 24-hour basis. Passengers reaching the Airport disembark at the Departures level, where they can proceed directly to the check-in counters. When leaving the airport, please make use of the taxi queue next to Door 3 of the Arrivals Level.

GETTING TO CHANIA VIA THESSALONIKI
Alternatively if for any case Thessaloniki is more convenient to travel from your country you may travel to Chania by plane.

TRAVELING TO CHANIA VIA HERAKLION
This route is not recommended, as is it more expensive and complicated.
The distance between Chania and Heraklion is approximately 140km. If you have to arrive at Heraklion, to come from Heraklion to Chania you will have to use a BUS or taxi, and it will be about two and a half hours drive.
A taxi from Heraklion costs approximately 125 Euros, or more, depending on the time of day.
The Bus ticket is appr. 15 euro. The bus leaves every hour from 05:30 to 20:30. You can ask the driver to drop you off at MAICh, instead of getting to the coach station in Chania. You can go from the Heraklion airport to the Bus Coach Station by a local bus. The bus departs every 5 min from 06:00 to 23:00. You will also have to walk 200 meters from the Bus stop to the Coach Station.
The port of Heraklion, if you arrive by boat, is very close (~500 meters) to the Coach Station.
